Time Period: 2 days
Lesson Objective
The student will learn the "letter" names of all notes found on the lines and spaces of the treble clef. The student will use this understanding of treble clef note names to create their own 4 measure melody and share it with me and class by sending it via share tab on the noteflight.com website.

ENGAGEMENT
1. Students will view video clips of Quaver Music to engage their interest in note names and creating melodies:

EXPLORATION
2. Students will explore creating melodies on treble clef by "painting" the notes on the clef and then hearing what it sounds like in real time. Students will not be required to know names of notes yet, just explore with program to create at least two different melodies on quavermusic.com

4. Students will complete practice naming notes found on lines and spaces of treble clef by using and playing flashcard game on quavermusic.com
Students log in, click on bus stop, catch bus to "Quaver's School of Music, click on "Music Theory" arrow, click on "Unit Episode 1.9 Lines and Spaces, click on IWB Activities, and then complete 2 row of activities on page, "Lines Staff Champion!", "Space Staff Champion", and Treble Staff Champion!" Try each activity at least 5 times each to practice lines and spaces of treble clef.

6. Students will take a quiz on treble clef note naming on Studyblue website to check for content acquisition.

7. Then students will use the lines and spaces on the treble clef to compose a four measure original melody line using noteflight.com and share with rest of class by posting completed composition as well as sending to instructor for evaluation. .

8. Each student will receive a grade based on their quiz score and their composition piece. Compositions will be based on the following rubric:
Use of required notes: starting and ending on "C",
using at least 5 of the other alphabet letters within composition 20
Use of previous note value knowledge in using various notes 15
Display clear understanding of note names in treble clef 15
Creativity in melody composition 10
